Behind the door

The two inches behind a door are the most overlooked storage in the house. Our racks hang over the top edge, hold what the floor was holding, and lift off without leaving a mark.

Every rack here shares one trick: a flat metal bracket that rides over the top of the door. No drill, no adhesive strips that peel paint in July. The difference between models is what hangs below - a single row of hooks for coats, a double or triple hanger for the pile that keeps growing, a double-sided set that works both faces of the door, a collapsible rack that drops flat when the towels come off.

Door thickness decides the fit. Interior and exterior doors wear different tops, and each card states the bracket it ships with; on the single-row models the number of hooks is a choice inside the card rather than a separate product. Measure the top edge before you order and the rest is gravity.

The no-drill set is for the door you are not allowed to touch, the heavy duty one for the coat that comes home wet. A wreath has its own answer: the magnetic hanger holds it to a metal door with nothing over the top at all.
