Most over-the-door hooks only work on one side of the wood. We shaped this one as a reversible Z so both the inside and outside of the door carry weight. Drop it over the top rail and hang a coat in the hall while keeping a robe inside the bedroom.

The steel bends across the top of the door frame and drops down on both sides. You get a hook inside the room and another in the hallway without drilling into the wood or sticking tape to the paint.
One end of the bend is wider than the other. If you move it from a thin pantry door to a thicker bedroom door, turn the piece over and the opposite bracket seats flat across the top edge.
Small silicone caps cover the hook tips so knit sweaters and towel loops do not snag on bare metal. Foam stickers sit between the steel frame and your door paint to stop rattles when the door swings shut.
We coat the stainless steel with a baked paint finish that holds up to wet bathrobes and heavy winter coats. The pale brown tone sits quietly against stained timber doors and warm hallway trim without drawing attention.
